Back in October of last year we saw McAfee acquire ScanAlert and it’s famed security scanning division Hackersafe. Now it seems that McAfee have literally swallowed the brand name and just swapped the old Hackersafe logo with their own new McAfee trust seal!

Naturally they have suggested it out preformed the Hackersafe site seal - despite Hackersafe saying it was the most successful design in increasing conversion of their hundreds of design tests. I find this questionable to say the least but a brave move by McAfee to swap over like that.

Shopperguards market will be slightly different to begin with to McAfee’s in that we won’t be offering vulnerability scanning as the majority of small to medium online businesses use 3rd party payment processors anyway. This then makes the 3rd party processor responsible for the safety of the customers credit card details which is of course the most vulnerable information to misuse. It is also a near impossible task to guarantee that a website/server is hackersafe; just take a look at this article for example.

In fact if I remember rightly in Hackersafe’s terms and conditions it stated that they do not guarantee a server to be safe from hackers!

On a positive note Shopperguard is coming along nicely and we have an exciting and unique twist to our 3rd party certification system that we think you will love.

Look out for more news coming very soon!

Well we are not far from a fully working Website now and the back end is looking great! As the Managing Director of this company I am really excited about ShopperGuard and our plans for the future.

We ourselves run many e-commerce websites and know the importance of customer security and how important it is that they feel happy to part with personal information on our Websites. We came up with our company name ShopperGuard quite easily as it is the online shoppers we are trying to protect and we wanted a name that would reflect that.

We want a potential customer to come to a ShopperGuard verified Website and know that we have thoroughly checked the validity of the Website owners and their policies and that they can shop in safety.

Many companies that offer Website Seals charge very high amounts that are too much for people just starting out with a new online venture and so ShopperGuard will offer our seals at a very competitive price - but with no compromise on the quality of service.

We have been testing different designs of seals for months across some of our Websites that have shown significant increases in conversions - not only in straight sales on an ecommerce store but in online form completions too.

When you receive thousands of visitors to your Website it doesn’t actually take too long to do testing. Google Website Optimizer has also been useful as you can use it to split test between multiple seal designs or against no seal at all.

We have seen increases as much as 15% and over the period of a year this can add thousands and thousands to your bottom line.

Look out for the official launch of ShopperGuard in 2008 and some great initial offers!
